In addition to that, some studies have proved that excess consumption of animal products like meat can adversely affect health. However, there is no similar risk for people following a plant diet.
Some studies conducted on people having vegetarian and non-vegetarian diets have proved that their digestive mechanism can differ. It does not mean that they have different types of digestive systems, but their absorption rates differ. In those studies, it was found that the absorption system in non-vegetarians is more efficient, that is, they can absorb more nutrients compared to vegan and vegetarians. However, having additional vitamin C or fiber-rich food products will increase the absorption rate and helps in reducing the digestion time for vegans and vegetarians.
